A. Powell

Hastings resident, A. "June" Powell, 88, of 1107 West 12th, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at her home.

Services will be Thursday, December 7, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. William E. Deahl, Jr. officiating. Burial will be Thursday, December 7, 2006; 1:30 P.M.in Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska. Memorials to First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2006; 9am-9pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2006; 9am-9pm with family present 7pm-9pm all at Butler-Volland Funeral Home and Thursday, December 7, 2006; 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Mrs. Powell was born June 26, 1918 in Fairfield, Nebraska to Frank & Henrietta (Bryant) Wheeler. She graduated from Grand Island High School & Grand Island Business College, Grand Island, Nebraska. On August 31, 1941, she married Ralph A. Powell at Trinity Methodist Church, Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved from Grand Island to Hastings in 1943. She was a secretary for Westland Home & Building Company, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Ladies Auxiliary of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital and a past President of Does.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Jack, Jerry & Bryant Wheeler and a sister, Norma Ahumada.
