Blue Hill resident, Adaline Faye "Addie" (Schmitt) Long, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at The Kensington, Hastings Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 8, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at Blue Hill United Methodist Church, 302 South Webster Street, Blue Hill with Pastors Dan Albers and Kim Dunker officiating. Private family burial will be in Eureka Cemetery, Daykin. Memorials may be given to Home Away From Home Foundation. There will be no viewing or visitation as Addie was cremated.
Addie was married to Robert P. Long on October 1, 1962. She attended Wesleyan University and then moved to Los Angeles, California and worked for IBM. After a couple years she returned to Nebraska and married Bob. Addie was employed at Dutton-Lainson Corporation for several years. She also volunteered to help disadvantaged children in the Hastings area learn to read.
Addie was an active member of the Blue Hill United Methodist Church and served as funeral reception coordinator, taught Sunday School, helped with vacation bible school, and served in other capacities. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, hiking, kayaking, reading, Sudoku, Bible studies, and reading and talking about the Word.
Addie was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie and Violet Schmitt of Daykin.
