Agnes Svoboda

Deweese resident, Agnes Elizabeth Svoboda, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2009 at her home in rural Deweese after a 3 year bout with cancer.

Rosary will be at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Deweese, Nebraska on Sunday, August 16, 2009; 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 17, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Deweese, Nebraska with Father Loras K. Grell officiating. Burial will be at the Assumption Cemetery. Visitation will be at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15, 2009; 4:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., with family present from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., Sunday, August 16, 2009; at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Deweese, Nebraska from 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. with family present, and Monday, August 17, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to family's choice.

Agnes was born on June 3, 1931 on a farm near Assumption, Nebraska to Theodore and Anna (Hupf) Schneider. She attended Assumption Catholic School and graduated from Roseland High School in 1949. She had worked in Lincoln and Hastings. She married Irvin Svoboda on October 18, 1954 at Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption, Nebraska. They owned and operated Irv's Tavern in Holstein, Nebraska before purchasing their farm in Deweese where they farmed together their entire lives. Agnes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed farm life, gardening, cooking, and sewing but mostly enjoyed spending time with family.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marie Alexander and Dorothy Burdette, brother, James Schneider, and grandson, Matthew Furman.
