Alan McKelvie

September 15, 1923 — November 13, 2006

Former Hastings resident, Alan McKelvie, 83, of Milford, Nebraska, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Sunrise Country Manor, Milford, Nebraska.

Memorial service will be Thursday, November 16, 2006; 2:00 P.M. at All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Village with Rev. Neil Vik officiating. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Elizabeth Hospice-Lincoln, Nebraska, Mary Lanning Hospice - Hastings, Nebraska or Donor's Choice.

Mr. McKelvie was born September 15, 1923 southwest of Clay Center, Nebraska. He attended Fairfield school and served in the United States Navy during WWII as an Aviation Radioman 2nd Class. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1951 with an Agricultural Engineer Degree. On August 25, 1955, he married Ruth Theobald at the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Nebraska and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2006. He farmed his birthplace until March of 1965. He worked for Hastings Utilities, retiring in 1985 and moved to Good Samaritan Village in 1989. He was active with the Board of Directors of Nebraskans First (a coalition of underground irrigators) & was a 50 year member of the American Legion Club.

Mr. McKelvie was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Pesek) McKelvie, his wife, Ruth and one brother, Robert McKelvie.
