Alfred Oye

August 3, 1913 — December 15, 2007

Hastings resident, Alfred O. Oye, 94, of College View, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be Saturday, December 15, 2007; 11:00 A.M. at Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska with Pastor Lloyd Boyce officiating.. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2007; 3 P.M. until 9 P.M. with family present from 6 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Association or Hanover Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Oye was born August 3, 1913 on a farm south east of Blue Hill, Nebraska to August & Alwine (Gosch) Oye. He attended school in Rosemont, Nebraska through the eighth grade. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. He took over the family farm after his father passed away in 1934. On August 20, 1939, he married Fern Buschow in Blue Hill. The family moved to Iowa in the late 40's, where he farmed and fed cattle that were shipped to Chicago. They moved back to the farm in Nebraska when the children, Marlys & Gary were in high school. He farmed until 1961 and moved into Blue Hill where he worked for Dutton-Lainson in Hastings. Later, he took a job for Bentz Implement and then at Blue Hill Utilities for 7 years before retiring in 1985. He moved to Hastings in 1991 and was a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church. They moved into College View Assisted Living in September of 2006.

Mr. Oye was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Clarence, Herbert and Leo.
