Alice Boylesen

Hastings resident, Alice J. Boylesen, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Friday, March 9, 2012; 10:00 A.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 9, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Michael Houlihan and Father Mel Rempe officiating. Burial will be Friday, March 9, 2012; 1:45 P.M. in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery, Campbell, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust, c/o Dick Rempe, 1305 Commercial, Superior, NE 68978.

Alice was born March 23, 1918 in Campbell, Nebraska to Harvey & Josephine (Nollette) LaPorte. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1935. Alice married Chester Lemon in 1940 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings; he preceded her in death during World War II in London, England where he was interned in 1945. Alice married Arthur "Swede" Boylesen in 1946 in Ocean Park, California; he preceded her in death in 1988. She was an Instructor of Cosmetology at Hastings Beauty Academy. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Legion of Mary, Crosier Apostolate, and past member of the Hairdresser's Association and American Legion Auxiliary. Alice taught the literacy program through the Hastings Public Library and volunteered numerous hours at the Village and Haven Home.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Chester Lemon and Arthur "Swede" Boylesen; sisters, Edna Portz, Luella Horton, and Lyvonne Spretty; brother, Dowayne LaPorte, and sister-in-law, Betty LaPorte.
