Blue Hill resident, Alice G. Corner, 96, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at her home.
Services will be Monday, October 17, 2016; 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill with Pastor Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Blue Hill Library Friends Foundation. Visitation will be Sunday, October 16, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Alice was born September 14, 1920 on a farm four miles north of Blue Hill, Nebraska to Walter C. & Theresa (Muhleisen) Krueger. She was baptized on September 20, 1920 by Rev. Louis Ernst. The family moved to Blue Hill when she was four years old. Alice attended parochial school through eighth grade graduation in May 1935. She was confirmed in May 1935 by Pastor August Ficken and graduated from Blue Hill High School in May 1939.
Alice took care of three year old Dee Dee McDonald for six months, and then started working as a bookkeeper for Corner's Service and Blue Hill Livestock for 27 years; retiring in 1990. She married James Corner on November 2, 1941; he preceded her in death on January 12, 2009.
Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. L.W.M.L., and took care of cradle roll called New Beginnings. She was a life member of A.L.A. Unit 176, past member of Webster County Museum Board and Blue Hill Library Friends Foundation, delivered Meals On Wheels for 11 ½ years. Alice was a special friend to Laura Foltz who was a resident of Blue Hill Care Center for three years. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Corner; brother, Wilbur Krueger; daughter, Sandra Latham; daughter-in-law, Patsy (Pugh) Corner; and great-grandson, Ian Waltke.
