Hastings resident, Alice Dolores "Dee" Galitz, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at her home.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 22, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be Saturday, April 22, 2017; 3:00 P.M. in Sunrise Cemetery north of St. Paul, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church to be designated to the Chancel Choir, the Bell Choir, and Shrine Hospital for prosthetics. Book signing will be Friday, April 21, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Dolores was born to George and Alice (Pedersen) Jacobson on September 11, 1930 at home on a farm in the Fairdale Community located in Howard County, Nebraska. She was very active in school activities such as cheerleading, girls state, and state chorus clinics. Dolores graduated in 1947 from high school and was valedictorian of her class. After graduation, Dolores attended a business school in Lincoln, Nebraska and worked at the State Capitol as secretary for the Department of Roads and Irrigation. She returned to Wolbach in 1948 to work at the People's State Bank in Wolbach until 1954.
Dolores worked as a church secretary from 1963 to 1970. She then worked as a bookkeeper for the Hastings Tribune until 1979. On April 4, 1949, Dolores and Herb were married at the Wolbach Methodist Church and they had three children; Deborah Jo, Alan Kirk, and Brian Jay. Dolores sang in the choir in Wolbach, Alliance, Red Cloud and Hastings. She belonged to WSCS, Outlook Book Club, and P.E.O. Playing golf, traveling, fishing, cards and spending time with family were many of her favorite activities.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.
