Allen Boudreau

April 28, 1934 — November 7, 2012

Republican City resident, Allen W. Boudreau, 78, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Omaha Veterans Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska of multiple myeloma, a cancer he has had for about five years.

Services will be Monday, November 12, 2012; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, with Father Jamie Hottovy officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, November 11, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

He was born April 28, 1934 in Hastings, Nebraska to Philip & Clara (Gruessing) Boudreau. He went to Zion Lutheran Grade School and Hastings High School. He married Rosalie Shestock of Maplewood, Wisconsin on August 20, 1955 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings, they were married for 57 years. Allen made Hastings his home for 63 years. He worked at Weyerhauser Box Factory until he was drafted in the Army on August 1, 1956. He served as a medic in Korea until his discharge on July 14, 1958, and returned to work at Weyerhauser until 1964. He then joined the Hastings Fire Department and retired in 1990 after 26 years of service. During that time he became a real estate broker and had his own office in Hastings from 1960 until 1982 when a fire destroyed the business. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and took many trips to North America, Canada, and Africa for big game hunting. Rosalie and Allen enjoyed traveling together going on numerous trips. Allen was a member of the American Legion of Naponee, V.F.W. and Eagles Clubs of Hastings, President of the Harlan County Board for the Senior Center in Alma, was also a volunteer for the Republican City Fire Department. Allen enjoyed his daily walks with his dog "Ice" around the lake.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents.
