Former Hastings resident, Allen L. Larsen, 49, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at his residence in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a short illness.
Military rites will be Saturday, April 10, 2010; 1:00 P.M. in front of Butler Volland Funeral Home, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorial service will follow the military rites in the funeral home chapel with Paul Heger officiating. No viewing or visitation. A bike run will be held after the memorial service in memory of Allen. A celebration of life will be held at the Second Street Slammer, 2315 West 2nd, from 2 P.M. until 9 P.M. Memorials may be given to the family.
Allen was born January 8, 1961 in Hastings, Nebraska. Allen graduated from Hastings High in 1979. He attended Hastings College and was a member of the football team. He was in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, from November 28, 1980 until November 27, 1984. While in the 82nd Airborne, he was in operation Fury in Panama and operation Safe Haven in Granada. Allen received several ribbons and badges during his service to his country. He worked as a printer for Great Plains Packaging for 20 years. In 1986 he married Michelle Kennedy. Years later he then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he worked as a printer for Bell Box Company.
