Allen Schukei

Hastings resident, Allen D. Schukei, 74, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, April 15, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nebraska Children's Home, or memorial of your choice. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Allen was born March 5, 1941 in Roseland, Nebraska to Ernest Jr. and Hazel (Berndt) Schukei. He attended Zion Lutheran Wanda School and graduated from Roseland High School in 1958, and served with the National Guards from 1958-1964. On April 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Marilyn McWhirter at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska. He worked for Western Land Roller, Western Equipment Co., was a Cargill Seed Dealer and sold grain bins for Conrad Bins. Allen farmed north of Roseland and also had Allen's Repair for irrigation services. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in April of 1990. Allen helped his wife with her painting business. He was an active member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, served on the Elevator Board and was a volunteer for the Roseland Volunteer Fire Department.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Harold Shaw, Robert Phillips, Loran Quandt, Vernon Saulter, Robert McWhirter and Lavern McWhirter.
