Alvin Kort

January 24, 1919 — April 12, 2008

Hastings resident, Alvin F. Kort, 89, of 721 S. 1st Avenue #327, Goldbeck Towers, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2008; 6PM-9PM and Tuesday, April 15, 2008; 9A.M.-9P.M. at the funeral home & Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Mr. Kort was born January 24, 1919 in Adams County, near Ayr, Nebraska to Louis & Flora (Siebrass) Kort. He attended Trinity Lutheran School, Blue Hill, Nebraska. He farmed and raised dairy cows. He married Marcilene Ebel on May 23, 1943 and she died August 1, 1980. He worked for Harold Lautenschlager (a cattle operation) and later for Hastings Utilities until his retirement. On January 23, 1982, he married Arlene (Melvin) Hoyt. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and had served on the financial board at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska. He loved to travel after his retirement, play cards and ballroom square dancing.

Mr. Kort was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Marcilene Kort, brothers, Roy & Raymond Kort, sister, Dorothy Govier, daughters-in-law, Linda Kort & Connie Kort and a step son, James Hoyt.
