Hastings resident, Amelia Margaret Willmes, 94, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Monday, July 12, 2010; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, July 12, 2010; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Michael's Catholic Church for masses.
Amelia was born March 3, 1916 in Adams County, Nebraska to J. Leo & Elisabeth (Seyler) Beiriger. On October 20, 1936, Amelia married Elmer P. Willmes at the Catholic Church at Assumption, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1975. Amelia went to school at Assumption. Elmer and Amelia lived in California from 1936 to 1942. Returning to Roseland they farmed until 1952 when they purchased the Silver Dollar in Kenesaw, Nebraska operating it until 1976. Amelia was very active at Sacred Heart at Kenesaw, serving as the Treasurer. Amelia enjoyed family, gardening, and loved to play bingo. Amelia was a homemaker.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Willmes; granddaughter, Amy; two brothers, Silv Beiriger and Arn Beiriger; and one sister, Martha Mangers.
