Ann Hogan

Former longtime resident of Hastings, Ann Estelle Hogan, 86, died on November 22, 2006 in Billings, Montana. Memorial Mass will be Friday, December 1, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Heartwell, Nebraska. Friday, December 1, 2006; 2:00 P.M. with Father Nick Baker officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please give donations to the Hastings Catholic Schools Trust.

Mrs. Hogan was born November 19, 1920 in Heartwell, Nebraska to Samuel Francis Porterfield & Stella Mae (Filbin) Porterfield. After graduating from Heartwell High School in 1937, Ann attended Kearney State Teachers College. She started her teaching career in a one-room country schoolhouse southeast of Heartwell, called Cozy Nest. Ann married John Vincent (Dizz) Hogan on December 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death. She taught for four decades in the Hastings area, and retired from teaching after several years with the Hastings Catholic School system.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter. She is survived by one daughter and five sons, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
