Anna Nowak

Hastings resident, Anna (Ann) Nowak, 93, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011; 8:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 6, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Ann Nowak Memorial Fund.

Anna was born November 3, 1917 in Friend, Nebraska to William A. & Johanna (Bergin) Langdon. They moved to Hastings where she attended St. Cecilia's Catholic Schools and graduated from St. Cecilia's Catholic High School. On August 21, 1954, she married Leander "Lee" Nowak at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2005. In 1970, Lee and Anna moved from St. Paul, Nebraska back to Hastings. She worked as a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for LT&T Telephone Company and A.J. August Men's Clothing. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Altar Society, CDA, and Hastings Sewing Guild. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, gardening and flowers, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Nowak; three brothers, Rev. Dennis Langdon, John Langdon, and Joseph Langdon; and one sister, Mary LeCuyer.
