Hastings resident, Arlen "Bud" Salmen, 79, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Fullerton Care and Rehabilitation Center, Fullerton, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Monday, July 24, 2017; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father BalaRaju Marneni officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.
Bud was born August 15, 1937 in Fairfax, South Dakota to Melvin & Vaiona (Cue) Salmen. He attended elementary school in Fairfax, South Dakota and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1956. Bud moved to Trumbull, Nebraska in 1956, where he worked for the Trumbull Co-op and also worked for the Village of Trumbull. He moved to Hastings from Trumbull in 1988. Bud was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Bud served in the United States Army from October 25, 1960 - October 24, 1961.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; step- mother, Dorothy Salmen; sisters, Dorothy Salmen, Kathy Schultz and Carol Lytle; brother & sister-in-law, Dennis & Mary Salmen; sister-in-law, Sheila Salmen.
