Arlene B. Hromadka, 85, of Perkins Pavilion, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion, Hastings, Nebraska

Services will be Thursday, February 28, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bohemian National Cemetery, south of Milligan, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Donor's choice. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2008; 5-9 P.M., Wednesday, February 27, 2008; 9 A.M. - 9 P.M. and one hour prior to service on Thursday.

Arlene B. Hromadka was born January 12, 1923 to James and Barbara (Becwar) Tesar on a farm east of Milligan, Nebraska. She attended rural school in Saline County, two years at Tobias High School and graduated from Milligan High School with the class of 1939. She taught rural schools in Fillmore County and attended Peru State Teacher's College. In 1945 Arlene became the manager of the new Milligan Co-op Grocery Store. After the February 22, 1946 marriage to Ralph Hromadka of Milligan, they moved to Hastings, Nebraska where she has been a resident since. Ralph preceded her in death in July of 1995. Arlene was office manager of the Girl Scout of America in Hastings, Nebraska until the office moved to Kearney. She then was the manager of the Senior Boutique of the Adams County Senior Services. She retired in 1984. Arlene was a great admirer of people. She had a sense of humor and loved children especially her grandchildren. She was an active and faithful member of past organizations: P.T.A., Girl Scouts of America, Cub Scouts, Pythian Sisters, Hastings V.F.W. Auxiliary, Hastings Eagles Auxiliary, Milligan American Legion Auxiliary, Lincoln Telephone Pioneers Association, and Western Fraternal Life Association Milligan Lodge # 76. She organized the South Central Nebraska Czech Society in 1976 along with their festival. She has been very active in that organization.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph.
