Arnold Smidt

Arnold L. Smidt, 79, of 303 So. Minnesota, died Friday, October 19, 2001 at Grand Island Veterans Home.

Graveside services and burial with military rites will be Wednesday, October 24, 2001; 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arnold L. Smidt was born February 25, 1922 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Henry & Tina (Hinrichs) Smidt. He served in the United States Army during WWII from December 5, 1942 til December 31, 1945. He was a mechanic for 15 years before owning and operating the 'Green Frog' tavern for 15 years. He later worked in construction until his retirement. He was a life long area resident and a member of the American Legion, Eagles, V.F.W. and the D.A.V. On February 25, 1972, he married Dixie (Nicholas) Newell.

Arnold L. Smidt was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Brother: Richard Smidt - Hastings, NE
