Arnold L. Toben

Grand Island resident Arnold L. Toben, 91, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.    

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 9, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doniphan with Pastor Tyler Hauptmeier officiating. Burial with military rites by Doniphan American Legion will be at Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Doniphan or Doniphan Fire Department QRT. 

Arnold was born January 9, 1933, in Hastings, NE to Henry and Martha (Porth) Toben. He graduated from Doniphan High School in 1950. Arnold served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Marilyn J. Schroetlin on August 7, 1960. Arnold farmed in the area for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #300 in Doniphan.  

 Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and spouses, Victor Toben, Arvilla & Don Treat, Ron & Vivian Toben, and Donald Toben; and infant daughter, Susan K. Toben.
