Arthur Kolbet

Hastings resident, Arthur "Art" Raymond Kolbet, 84, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Friday, May 1, 2015; 7:30 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 2, 2015; 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the Lawrence Country Club, Lawrence, Nebraska or Nebraska Veterans Home, Grand Island for the residents. Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2015; 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Friday, May 1, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the rosary and mass at the church.

Art was born October 12, 1930 in Lawrence, Nebraska to William J. & Magdalena (Schumm) Kolbet. He graduated from Lawrence High School. Art married Margaret McIntyre on January 20, 1953; she preceded him in death on November 1, 1991. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired on May 31, 1971. Art also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Deputy Sheriff in Tucson, Arizona in Pima County, Hansen Buildings and Hastings Utilities. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Pius XII Council 1123, and past member Eagles, Elks and American Legion.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; daughter, Karen Jean Kolbet; sister, Delores Kolbet; and brothers, Romauld & Oscar Kolbet.
