Hastings resident, Barbara Beck, 81, passed away with peace and grace, Friday, November 21, 2014 in the comfort of her home in Hastings.
Requiem Eucharist will be Saturday, November 29, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings with The Very Rev. Catherine Scott officiating. Private burial will take place in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral or Hastings College.
Barbara was born to Clifton George & Marguerite (Smith) Dyer on February 24, 1933 in York, Nebraska. She spent her younger years in California returning to Nebraska in 1946. She attended Hastings Junior High, graduated from Hastings Senior High in 1950 and attended Hastings College. Barbara married Charles E. Stickels on January 9, 1953. She and her family were confirmed in Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral in 1964. In 2006, she married William Beck with great joy after reuniting with him in 2004 at their 50th Hastings College reunion. She enjoyed travel especially through Europe, reading, playing bridge, history and entertaining. She was well known for her love of an active social life. Barbara was a member of Mary Lanning Volunteers, American Red Cross, 4-H Leader, Lochland Country Club, Saint Mark's vestry and PEO Chapter G.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Wayne Dyer and Rex Kenneth Dyer; beloved daughter, Kathryn Jane Stickels Anderson; and granddaughter, Hunter Lee Anderson.
