Barbara Smith

Hastings resident, Barbara A. Smith, 75, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 7, 2015; 11:00 A.M. at Second Presbyterian Church, 400 South St. Joseph Avenue, Hastings with The Rev. Dr. David B. McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family: c/o Steve Smith 3221 Woodwind Lane Dallas, TX 75229. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Barbara was born January 21, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Orville Thompson & Myrtle Girton. She married Lowell R. Smith on July 3, 1957 in Hastings, Nebraska; he preceded her in death in 1998. Barbara worked at the Hastings Regional Center where she held several positions. She was past President of the African-American Awareness Committee to help spread awareness to Hastings, Adams County and surrounding communities.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lowell R. Smith.
