Ben Weber

February 18, 1933 — September 21, 2014

Hastings resident, Ben W. Weber, 81, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska surrounded by his wife and five children.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, September 25, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 24, 2014; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present at the funeral home. A memorial has been established by the family to be designated at a later date to his favorite organizations.

Ben was born February 18, 1933 in Cambridge, Nebraska to George Ommen & Gertrude K. (Duering) Weber. In the 1940's the family moved to Hastings, where Ben resided for the rest of his life. Ben married Ilene M. Hinrichs on May 16, 1954 at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings. He worked hard his entire life providing for his family in various careers but loved being a security guard at Central Community College and Hastings College. Ben also worked for the Hastings Police Department, Grand Island's Cornhusker Ordnance Plant, Hastings Regional Center, among his many other careers. He retired from the Nebraska National Guard and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Ben was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Eagles Aerie #592. He enjoyed camping and canoeing with his family, gardening and taking care of his fish pond at home. He loved talking to people, had a story to tell and was always ready for a game of pitch.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Randall Weber; brothers, Henry Weber and Kenneth Weber; and sisters, Lucille Baughman and Ada Struss.
