Hastings resident, Benedict Nicholas 'Ben' Kirchen, 101, of 210 West 6th, died Friday, July 8, 2005 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be Wednesday, July 13, 2005; 5:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 14, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.
Mr. Kirchen was born June 15, 1904 in Adams County, near Juniata, Nebraska to John P. 'Jim' & Susan M. (Goedert) Kirchen. He graduated from high school and attended Business College. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska from a farm 5 miles southwest of Juniata, Nebraska in 1925. He married Pauline Wagner and she preceded him in death in 1974. He was an accountant for Paxton & Gallagher Co. & Hide Enterprises for 30 plus years, retiring in 1978. He married Madge Fye and she preceded him in death in 1989. In 1990 he married Erma Kimminau in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Mr. Kirchen was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and one brother.
