Bernard Kinley

April 17, 1925 — August 1, 2003

Bernard "Bernie" Kinley, 78, of 517 South Lexington, Hastings, Nebraska died July 27, 2003 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, August 1, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Nebraska with Dr. James Cooke officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings, Nebraska.

Bernard ""Bernie" Kinley was born April 17, 1925 in Bladen, Nebraska to Robert & Lula May (Faler) Kinley. He graduated from Bladen High School, Bladen, Neraska in 1943. Received his B.A. in 1949 from Doane College, Crete, Nebraska and received his M.ED. in 1970 from Colorado State University. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1944-1946 and was honorably discharged. He married Oriel (Sorensen) on June 6, 1970 in Hastings, Nebraska. He taught at Kenesaw Public Schools from 1946-1948. From 1949 - 1953 he was a high school principal and teacher at Fairmont Public Schools. He was a building and trades instructor at Milford, Nebraska Vocational Technical School from 1963 - 1966. He was one of the initial instructors at the founding of Central Community College, Hastings, in 1966. He retired in 1987 as Associate Dean of Educational Centers, Central Community College. He has spent the last 12 winters in Casa Grande, Arizona with Oriel. He was a member of the American Legion Post #21, Eagle's Club, Phi Delta Theta, First Presbyterian Church , Hastings, Nebraska, Retired Teachers Association and was a lifetime member of ACEAN (Adult and Continuing Education of Nebraska). He was the president of the Board of Education in Fairmont, Nebraska from 1957- 1968 and also was a charter member of the Lions Club in Fairmont, Nebraska.

Bernard "Bernie" Kinley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin and sister, Ruby James.

Memorial may be given to 1st Presbyterian Church or Family

VISITATION:
Wednesday: 7-30-03: 12 (noon) - 9 PM
Thursday: 7-31-03: 8 AM - 9 PM
Friday: 8-1-03: 1 hour prior to service
