Bernel L.Anderson

Hastings resident, Bernel L. Anderson,83, of 2701 Butterfoot Lane, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Thursday, March 13, 2008; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 14, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12, 2008; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Thursday, March 13, 2008; 9:00 A.M-9:00 P.M. with the family present from 7:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home & Friday, March 14, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools or family choice.

Mr. Anderson was born September 22, 1924 in Hastings, Nebraska to John P. & Odessa (Hendrickson) Anderson. He graduated from Pauline High School in 1942. He served in the First Calvary in the United States Army from June 2, 1943 to October 18, 1945. On January 7, 1948, he married Althea Gilsdorf. He was a division meter man for Kansas/Nebraska Gas Company. He was a life long area resident and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for 58 years, Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., American Legion, U.C.T , T.P.A, and A.Q.H.A.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ethelyn Templin.
