Berniece Harrifeld

Hastings resident, Berniece M. Harrifeld, 91, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, April 26, 2010; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, April 25, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family here from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Fund.

Berniece was born September 2, 1918 in Adams County, Nebraska to Louis & Anna (Muhleisen) Krueger. She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1936. On November 24, 1938 she married George Harrifeld. They lived and farmed in Blue Hill community prior to their retirement in Hastings. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1994. She was a homemaker and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, and active in her church circle and bible study. She volunteered for the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, served on the Election Board, and was a member of a Webster County Extension Club. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and baking.

Berniece was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Harrifeld; daughter, Marilyn Rademacher; three sisters, Pauline Warnke, Irene Harrifeld, and Verna Heltenberg; and infant brother.
