Betty Headley

Hastings resident, Betty J. Headley, 85, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, September 17, 2010; 10:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Cindy Karges officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gibbon, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16, 2010; 3:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. (with family present 6 PM. - 8 P.M.) at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family; a memorial will be established at a later date.

Betty was born June 25, 1925 in Lowell, Nebraska to Edwin & Bessie (Smiley) Carpenter. She graduated from Gibbon High School. On November 19, 1945 she married Wayne J. Headley in Belleville, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1995. She worked as a secretary in Kearney and for the Naval Ammunition Depot, worked as an aide and secretary for Good Samaritan Village for over 20 years, and worked for a short time for Dr. Kostal. After working she retired and reared her three grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne J. Headley; and one sister.
