Hastings resident, Betty J. Meyer, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at her home.
Services will be Monday, November 24, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with The Rev. Dr. David B. McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Saturday, November 22, 2014; 11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, November 23, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a living tree memorial has been established or memorials may be given to YMCA or First United Methodist Church.
Betty was born May 18, 1924 in Guide Rock, Nebraska to Walter & Lilly (Dean) Oberheide. She graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1943. Betty married Milton I. Meyer on June 6, 1943; he preceded her in death on February 18, 1986. In 1955 they moved to Hastings from Bladen, Nebraska. She worked as a seamstress for Mode-O-Day and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Eagles Auxiliary, and Tole Painters. She enjoyed tole painting, sewing, making cards, camping, fishing and gardening.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; sisters, Maxine Dillon, Ruth Wurm, Dorothy Glantz and Waldolene Rehtus; and brothers, Dean Oberheide, Henry Oberheide and Paul Oberheide.
