Billy Stubbe

Former Ayr resident, Billy Walter "Willi" Stubbe, 90, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011; 2:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, January 24, 2011; 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Perkins Pavilion for the purchase of wide screen televisions for the residents.

Billy was born April 2, 1920 in Spaldingsfelde, Germany to Wilhelm Karl & Emma Auguste Emilie (Spremberg) Stubbe. The family immigrated from Germany arriving at Ellis Island on February 19, 1929 and then came to the Adams County area in Nebraska. He attended school in rural Adams County. On February 6, 1943 he married Margaretta M. Rothfuss at the Zion Lutheran Church in Corvallis, Oregon. She preceded him in death in October 2008. Billy was inducted into the Army on September 28, 1942 serving in the Pacific Theater. He received a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1945. He returned to the family farm by Hastings. He then moved to a farm by Ayr where he farmed and resided until moving to Good Samaritan Village in September of 2008.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaretta M. Stubbe; daughter, Sharon A. Hamik; and great-great-granddaughter, Kiara N. Roman.
