Blake Calvin Mankin, 79, of 1607 Apache Avenue, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Saturday, August 17, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen & Rev. Robert Harms officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska.

Blake C. Mankin was born August 8, 1923 in Clay County, near Trumbull, Nebraska to Clinton & Trella (Phelps) Mankin. He graduated from Trumbull High School, Trumbull, Nebraska in 1941. Following graduation, he worked on a combine crew, following the wheat harvest from Texas to Canada. On August 15, 1954, he married Dorothy Koch at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He was a lifetime area farmer in Adams, Clay and Hamilton counties. He moved to Adams County in 1954. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Endowment Committee. He was a former elder at Zion, served on the Stewardship, Evangelism and Church Building Committees. He was also a Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir. He was a member of the American Corn Growers Association. He was a former member and chairman of Adams County Heart Association and the Adams County Soil Conservation Service. In addition, he was a former member of Nebraska Elected County Committeeman, Adams Central School Board and Adams County Extension Board. He was former licensed realtor with Town & Country Realty.

Blake C. Mankin was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
