Bonita Elaine (Betz) Shaw was born on March 2, 1934 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Reynold and Lorene (James) Betz. She died in her home of natural causes on August 16, 2017 at the age of 83.

A naturally gifted artist, her love of drawing and writing developed at a young age. At just 12 years old, her first drawings and short stories were published in the Nebraska Farmer Magazine. She graduated Valedictorian from Campbell High School in May 1952. On August 16, 1952, she married Marvin W. Shaw in Campbell. They later made their home and permanent residence on a farm south of Roseland.

She worked as a products demonstrator and Unit Sales Leader for Stanley Home Products and for 12 years at Roseland State Bank. She took painting classes for 20 years and perfected the art of oil painting. Her paintings adorned the walls of local businesses and family members' homes. She also organized local art shows. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing and reciting poetry, and baking.

She served on the board of Grace United Methodist Church in Holstein for many years. She volunteered for numerous organizations providing leadership, fund raising, political work, transportation for school activities, and helped children in cub scouts and Red Cross swimming lessons.

Bonnie enjoyed socializing with friends while square dancing and playing cards. Their group of friends enjoyed touring the country for 27 years, mostly with trips to the south. She loved dressing up and having a meal with the Red Hat Society ladies.

She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent much time following and attending their activities. She thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with everyone on Facebook.

In her own words, "A great love of God, our Family, our Country, & our fellow man is the motivating factor in my life as a homemaker."
