Former Hastings resident, Brett Reed, 40, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in Wauwatosa, WI.

Memorial Services will be Sunday, December 23, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Additional services were held Sunday, November 25, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Krause Funeral Home in New Berlin, WI. Burial was in English Settlement Cemetery, near Burlington, WI. Memorials may be sent to UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Sarcoma Medical Oncology, PO Box 301402 - Unit 450, Houston, TX 77230-1402.

Brett was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Bill & Jackie (Barth) Reed on December 15, 1971. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1990. He then went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1995 with a degree in Actuarial Science. After college, Brett worked as an actuary for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Chicago, IL. At the time of his death, he was employed by Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI. He married Beth Stowell in Norway, WI, on November 17, 2001.

Brett was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lillian Barth; grandparents, Melvin & Mary Reed; and uncle, Jerry Hesterwerth.
