Burdell VanBoening

Rural Glenvil resident, Burdell G. VanBoening, 66, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Hastings, Nebraska surrounded by family.

Memorial Services will be Friday, October 30, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, west of Glenvil with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Burdell was born November 3, 1948, in Hastings, Nebraska to George and Naoma (Einspahr) VanBoening. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1966. He is a former member of the Nebraska National Guard 134th Infantry having gone through basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He graduated from Central Community College with a Construction Electrician AAS degree in 1969. He worked for Krieger Electric until 1995 when he started his own company, B.Van Electric. For many years he also farmed the family farm. Burdell was married to Kayleen Ricker from 1972 to 1984. He was a wonderful devoted father and grandfather as well as great friend to so many.

Burdell was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Jenny VanBoening of Waukee, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bob Swanson of Grimes, Iowa; grandsons Ethan VanBoening of Waukee, Iowa and Brooks Swanson of Grimes, Iowa; granddaughters Emma VanBoening of Waukee, Iowa and Ella and Olivia Swanson of Grimes, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law Belva and Howard Junker of Juniata, Nebraska and sister LaVila VanBoening of Hastings Nebraska; and many relatives and friends.
