Hastings resident, Burdette "Bud" James Bohrer, 61, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorials may be given to the North Shore Assembly of God Building Fund or Start Over Rover in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Bud was born in Red Cloud, Nebraska on May 18, 1953 to James Henry Bohrer and Phyllis Joan (Tietjen) Bohrer. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1971 and from Central Community College in 1973. His work career included flooring sales and installation; insurance sales; and business owner. At the time of his death, he was the owner of Bohrer's Floors in Hastings. Bud served on the Idlewilde SID Board and on the school board for Wallace (District 60) Elementary School. On July 6, 1973, Bud was united in marriage with Beth Pavelka. This union was blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Kathryn. Bud moved to Hastings in 1971 and he and Beth continued to make Hastings their home following their marriage. Bud was an active member of the North Shore Assembly of God (NSAG) Church. Bud loved life. He loved his family and friends and having a good time. Sports were a big part of his life-he was an avid golfer, played basketball until his mid-50's, and played softball for 33 consecutive years. When he wasn't participating in sports, he was coaching midget football and his daughters' softball and basketball teams, learning to be a Dance Dad, or attending their other activities. He also enjoyed classic cars, car shows, and cruise nights; motorcycles; and attending NASCAR races. He was an animal lover-especially horses and his dogs.

Bud was preceded in death by his father, Jim Bohrer; and grandparents, Francis and Josephine (Stewart) Bohrer, Virdena Susan (Kolb) Schlink, and Byron Lloyd Tietjen.
