Carmen Fay Lewis, 79, of Goldbeck Towers, Good Samaritan Village, died March 31, 2001 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2001; 10:00 A.M. at All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Village with Pastor Bill Liddell officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska, Wednesday, April 4, 2001; 3:00 P.M.
Carmen Fay Lewis was born August 12, 1921 in Fillmore County Township of West Blue (Grafton) Nebraska to Cleveland & Clara Belle (Swartz) King. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1939. On October 13, 1941, she married Vernie F. Lewis in Fairbury, Nebraska and he preceded her in death in 1995. They farmed in Chandler, Oklahoma, Loveland, Colorado and Giltner, Nebraska. In 1973 they retired to Loveland, Colorado before moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1994. Carmen worked as a cook at the Giltner Public Schools and Monroe Elementary School in Loveland, Colorado. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hastings, Life Member of V.F. W. Auxiliary Post #1346 in Hastings, and past Auxiliary President Post # 41, Loveland, Colorado. Past Noble Grand Rebekah Lodge Chapter in Loveland, Colorado and Hastings, Nebraska. Member of American Legion Auxiliary and Past President American War Mothers both in Loveland, Colorado. She spent many hours volunteering her baking talents with the Veterans and Good Samaritan Village Organizations.
Carmen Fay Lewis was preceded in death by husband, Vernie, 3 brothers; twins, Floyd and Lloyd King & Lyle King and 2 grandchildren.
