Carolina Hermann

Hastings resident Carolina "Jean" (Duborko) Hermann, 79, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be held at Concordia Cemetery, Juniata, NE at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation is 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, at the funeral home, with the family present 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church.

Jean was born March 17, 1938, in New Plymouth, Idaho to Samuel & Elizabeth (Pook) Duborko. She was baptized April 17, 1938 and confirmed on July 26, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Plymouth, ID. Jean married Theodore "Ted" Allen Hermann on June 18, 1959 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Plymouth, ID.

Jean graduated from Concordia Teachers College in Portland, OR and attended college in River Forest, IL. Her first teaching position was an elementary teacher at Christ Lutheran School, Juniata, NE. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Ladies Guild, LWML, Couples Club, Sheep Ministry, church choir and taught Sunday School. She was a substitute teacher in the local area. She worked at Kmart for 16 years, retired, and worked at Renew Christian Book Store. Jean was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Jean's hobbies and passions were her family, crocheting, knitting, jewelry making, making cards on her computer, singing, traveling and going for rides, gardening, flowers, square dancing, farming and swimming.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Teri Hermann; and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
