Hastings, resident, Carroll A. Wyman, 85, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his home.
Services will be Monday, January 31, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, in Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or Ex P.O.W. Visitation will be Saturday 1 P.M. to 9 P.M., Sunday 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. with family present 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Carroll was born May 21, 1925, in Hastings, Nebraska to Carl J. & Eda (Sorensen) Wyman. He graduated from Hastings High School. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps from September 10, 1943 until October 17, 1945. He was a Ball Turret Gunner on a B-24 and was a prisoner of war in Germany for 10 months. Carroll married Berniece Finnigsmier at Christ Lutheran Church, Juniata, Nebraska on May 17, 1946. He worked at Debus Baking Company for 11years and for 33 years at Hastings Utilities Electrical Plant. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, D.A.V., V.F.W., American Legion and Ex POW Cornhusker Chapter. Carroll was made an Admiral in the Great Navy Of The State Of Nebraska on November 11, 2010. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
