Catherine Williams

Hastings resident, Catherine C. Williams, 101, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, November 5, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be Friday, November 5, 2010; 2:00 P.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2010; 3:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 7:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Catherine was born February 28, 1909 near Glenvil, Nebraska to Dirk & Elizabeth (VanBoening) Stromer. She attended public schools in Adams County and Hastings College. She taught school at Kelley School District #35 for nine years; in 1941 she accepted a position with the Justice Department in Washington D.C. and remained in the area for 30 years. She retired in 1971 and returned to Hastings. On June 4, 1944 she married Jesse E. Williams. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1972. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, WELCA, Senior Fellowship, and NARFE.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse E. Williams; sister & spouse, Hattie & Walter Grothen; and brother and spouse, Frederick & Ruth Stromer.
