Hastings resident, Charles G. "Garth" Amack, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Grand Island VA Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Graveside Services with military rites will be Saturday, August 19, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Memorials may be given to Guide Rock Cemetery or Guide Rock American Legion Auxiliary. There will be no viewing or visitation as Garth was cremated.

Garth was born June 14, 1937, in Guide Rock, Nebraska to Raymond & Pauline (Reed) Amack. After high school graduation, Garth attended Kearney State College where he was a member of the football team. Garth was married to Margaret Davidson on February 21, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from March 31, 1960, until February 28, 1966.

Garth owned Amack Skelly Service Station for several years and was employed as a piston ring assembler at DANA Corporation for 23 years. He was a member of Guide Rock American Legion. Garth was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved camping. He took an active part in his family's horse showing hobby and loved watching Husker football.

Garth was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gary Portenier.
