Charles Stonecipher

February 15, 1937 — January 28, 2005

Hastings resident, Charles L. 'Chuck' Stonecipher, 67, of 715 Leisure Lane, died Friday, January 28, 2005 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, February 1, 2005; 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings Nebraska with Rev. Dr. William Deahl, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Stonecipher was born February 15, 1937 in Apache, Oklahoma to L. C. & Myrtle (Buffer) Stonecipher. He graduated from Vanoss High School, Vanoss, Oklahoma and earned his B.S. from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma and his M.S. and PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin. He served in the National Guard. He was previously married to LaDell Routh. Mr. Stonecipher was the founding director of the South Central Research & Extension Center in Clay Center for the University of Nebraska. He served as the center's district director until his retirement in 1997. He moved from Clay Center to Hastings, Nebraska in 1971. In June of 1987, he married Sharon Nelson Lemmer. For many years, he and his wife owned and operated a Christmas tree farm called The Pine Patch. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rotary, Nebraska State 4-H Foundation and served on the board for the YMCA. He was a past President and current member of Nebraska Tree Growers Association and a member of the National Tree Growers Association.

Mr. Stonecipher was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wanda Stonecipher.

Memorial may be given to Nebraska State 4-H Foundation

Book signing and visitation: Monday : 1-31-05 9 am - 9 pm with family present from
5 pm - 8:30 pm at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, Hastings, Nebraska.
