Hastings resident, Charlotte Kay Hawthorne, 75, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at her home.

Services will be Friday, February 2, 2018; 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings, with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Graveside service willfollow at2:00 P.M. inImmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Arapahoe. Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, 2018; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Funeral Home with the family present. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice.

Charlotte was born July 13, 1942, in Arapahoe, Nebraska to Everett & Louise (Ziebell)Hermes. She graduated from Arapahoe High School, received her Bachelor's Degree from Hastings College and Master's Degree from University of Nebraska-Kearney. She married Bill Mosbarger and had two sons, Brent and Brian. Later she married Bob Hawthorne and both preceded her in death. Charlotte moved to Hastings in 1993 and worked at Hastings Regional Center, Hastings College and started her own private practice. In her private practice, she served the Hastings area as a Certified Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Practitioner, and Certified Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Chapter GZ and Adams County Mental Health Board. Charlotte was a world traveler who enjoyed traveling with her family. Her life centered around all of her family and she loved being with all of her grandchildren and attending their activities.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Mosbarger and Bob Hawthorne; two sisters, Ruth Hermes and Elizabeth "Betty" Beck; and brother, Billy Hermes.
