Hastings resident, Christine "Chris" M. Haberer, 85, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 2, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church for masses or the Monsignor John J. McCabe Memorial Endowment. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 1, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Chris was born January 11, 1928 in Osceola, Nebraska to Leo & Mary Agnes (Gembica) Koziol. She graduated from Fullerton High School where she was Homecoming Queen. Chris married Maurice "Joe" Haberer on August 19, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Island, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on January 22, 1971. She worked at Grand Island Ordinance Plant and Metz Bakery and was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice "Joe" Haberer; parents; brothers, Benny, Edward, Frankie, Leo, and Thomas Koziol; and sister, Cecilia Cheshier.
