Christine Mendenhall

Christine M. Mendenhall, 91, of Harvard Rest Haven, died Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, January 15, 2001; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tim Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska.

Christine Mendenhall was born March 23, 1909 in Adams County, Nebraska to Fred C. & Gebka (Hinrichs) Ocker. She was baptized April 11, 1909 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed on May 1, 1917 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Pohlman. She grew up in rural Adams County west of Glenvil and attended country school District #71. She married Walter F. Classen on April 16, 1933. On June 11, 1948, she married Karl Mendenhall in Central City, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1968. They moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where she was an aide at the Soldiers & Sailors Home (Nebraska Veterans Home) until her retirement. She resided in Grand Island until 1995 when she moved to Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Christine Mendenhall was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Karl, a son, Darrel W. Classen, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
