Former Hastings resident, Clara E. Lutkemeier, 97, of Wilmot, South Dakota, died Saturday, December 9, 2000 the Community Home, Wilmot, South Dakota.
Services will be Thursday, December 14, 2000; 2:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Matt Nieman officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Clara E. Lutkemeier was born September 18, 1903 in Campbell, Nebraska to John Peter & Alice (Reiber) Adler. On October 2, 1924, she married Herman Lutkemeier in Campbell, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1993. They farmed south of Holstein, Nebraska for 43 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Campbell, Nebraska and was the organist for 43 years. She was active in the Church's Women's Organization, serving as an officer. On their retirement in 1967, they moved from the farm to Hastings, Nebraska where she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Circle Chairman of the Women's Organization and as an officer in the Church's Retirees Fellowship Group. For many years, she was a member of Harmony Club, Hastings Women's Club, Y.W.C.A. and served on the Board of Sunnyside Home. She served as a substitute and interim organist in several Hastings Churches.
Clara E. Lutkemeier was preceded in death by parents, husband, Herman, son, Robert of Wilmot, South Dakota, sister, Pauline Koch of Hastings, Nebraska, and 1 brother, Alex of Clinton, Iowa.
