Hastings resident, Cleone Maxine Houseman, 90, of Perkins Pavilion, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be Thursday, March 15, 2007; 11:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Arthur Schakat officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hebron, Nebraska.
Mrs. Houseman was born September 14, 1916 in Nelson, Nebraska to Leroy Gordon & Lettie Florence (Coles) Merrill. At the age of 6 month, she moved with her family to a farm a mile east of Nora, Nebraska until the age of 14 years. In 1931, she moved to rural Hebron, Nebraska. She graduated from Nora High School, Nora, Nebraska. She was baptized on March 24, 1940 in the Methodist church in Hebron, Nebraska by Minister Arthur Monkman. She married Emil John Houseman on January 19, 1941 at Bruning, Nebraska by Rev. Theo Alwardt and he preceded her in death on August 15, 1964. To this union, 4 sons were born, Virgil, Dean, Don & Kenneth. She joined St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Stoddard, Nebraska in August of 1945. Son, Don, passed away at the age of 19 from leukemia on March 31, 1968. She made her home on the farm until 1960 when the family moved to Hebron, Nebraska. In 1970, she moved to Hastings, Nebraska. She worked in the nursing home in Hebron for 4 ½ years, Milder Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska for 2 weeks, Good Samaritan in Deshler, Nebraska for 2 years and Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska for 12 years.
Mrs. Houseman was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emil and a son, Don.
