Clifford Winbolt

November 26, 1922 — December 29, 2007

Hastings resident, Clifford Winbolt, 85, of 2718 Bateman, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital after battling cancer for many years.

Services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Book signing will be Tuesday, January 1, 2007; 1P.M-5P.M. Memorials may be given to the Morrison Cancer Center or First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mr. Winbolt was born November 26, 1922 to Herbert & Laura Mae (Studebaker) Winbolt at LaMoure, North Dakota. He attended schools in Rapid City, North Dakota and Emerson, Nebraska. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940-1942. He also helped in the family oil business in Emerson before entering the United States Army in 1942. He served in the Army Coast Artillery & Military Police in the Pacific Theatre during WWII until his discharge in 1946. On November 6, 1949, he married June Jebson Cook and she preceded him in death on March 6, 1966. He served as Chief of Police in Emerson & Pender, Nebraska. In 1953, he attended the Safety Patrol Academy in Ashland, Nebraska and became a Nebraska State Trooper. He was assigned to the Hastings area where he served 29 years before retiring in 1982. He married Elvera Boyer Sayer in 1971. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, D.A.V., V.F.W., Masonic Lodge #50 A.F & A.M., and Scottish Rite. He was an avid car collector, having restored several vehicles and loved traveling. He enjoyed winters in Arizona, Florida and Texas.

Mr. Winbolt was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and an infant daughter.
