Hastings resident, Corinne D. Hawes, 93, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Corinne would tell you that her work here is done. She was given the gift of life and she lived life to the fullest, by pursuing life's simple pleasures.

She was an extraordinary person, who lived an extraordinary life. Corinne's life was guided by her faith and her devotion to her family. Although Corinne has returned to the Lord, her legacy lives on through her family that she has loved and nurtured.

A book signing will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017; 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, Hastings. Burial will be at a later date in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family.

Corinne was born December 6, 1924, in Swanton, Nebraska to Edward & Mildred (Kasl) Chaloupka. She graduated as valedictorian of Swanton High School. Corinne married Henry W. Hawes on February 13, 1943, in Colorado Springs, Colorado; he preceded her in death on January 2, 1996.

Corinne worked as an office manager for the State Probation Administration. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved gardening, her dogs, antiquing, and trips to Colorado.

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry W. Hawes; daughter, Dayna Hagemeier; granddaughter, Lisa Hagemeier-Hinrichs; and sister, Shirley Reid.
