Hastings resident, Dale Reemt Van Lengen, 86, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, September 8, 2017; 1:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites by the Hastings Veterans Organization will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M with the family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.
Dale was born June 27, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska to Reemt John & Marie W. (Moll) Van Lengen. He graduated from Hastings High School. He served in the Army in Okinawa during the Korean War, January 1952 through December 1953 as a Corporal. He then served in the Army Reserve Artillery. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Dale married Betty Lou Bott on April 16, 1955; she preceded him in death in August of 1994.
Dale was a member of the Hastings American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW in Hastings, and the Teamsters while driving for Bee Line Motor Freight. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and stillborn son.
