Dale Montgomery

Hastings resident, Dale E. Montgomery, of 739 North Hastings, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be Thursday, January 31, 2008; 2:00 P.M. at Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, Nebraska with Rev. Jim Stark officiating. Memorial service will be May 17, 2008; 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. No viewing. Memorials may be directed to your favorite charity.

Mr. Montgomery was born June 23, 1929 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to George & Dorothy (Harvey) Montgomery. He attended schools in Cheyenne and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1947. He was a member of the starting five undefeated State Basketball Champions in 1947. He was selected to the starting five All State Basketball team for 1947. He attended the University of Wyoming and was a member of the basketball team in the years 1947-1949 and 1948-1949. He enlisted in the United States Army and after his discharge, he attended and played on the basketball team of University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, from which he graduated and received his Master in Education degree. On September 7, 1956, he married Joan Bean in Boise, Idaho. He was a retired Physical Education and Industrial Arts teacher in the Hastings School System.

Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Arthur and George Harvey Montgomery; sister, Patricia Schneider and a daughter, Terri Ann.
